23 Goals for 2023
A list
According to Gretchen Rubin, research shows that setting specific goals makes it more likely that we will achieve them. For this year, and in the tradition of Rubin et al, I decided to write a list of twenty-three goals.
It’s not paramount to cross all of these off. But it could be a fun exercise and provide a little structure to life.
Health and Wellness
Speaking of exercise… These goals are as much for my mental health as physical health.
1. 365 days of yoga
2. Go hiking a few times — Friends who hike, hit me up!
3. Continue tang soo do
Professional Goals
4. Focus on learning more about UX/UI writing and design to apply to my career
5. Participate in leading a workshop for my employer
6. Publish twelve articles on Medium
7. Do a member presentation at work
Home Improvement Goals
8. Apply for a home equity line of credit
9. Frame and hang pictures of the children (and other family members)
10. Clean out closets that I have access to, i.e. I am not cleaning out the children’s closets; plan to schedule at least one every two months or so
11. Training for Saiorse to see if we can get her to be less reactive
12. Help two older children get driver’s licenses
13. Help youngest child earn a phone by learning to be more responsible
14. Waste less food
Personal Goals
These are (mostly) for fun.
15. Watch 23 movies — Track in journal
16. Read (at least) 23 books — Track on Goodreads
17. Find a church to attend regularly — Either an LGBTQIA+ friendly Catholic congregation or a Christian church that is accepting of the LGBTQIA+ community
18. Host a bourbon or rye tasting
19. Use each of my nail polish shades at least once and
20. Get rid of the ones I don’t like
21. Help the eldest child with college application process
22. Get second piercing in both ears
23. Try at least one Mexican recipe per month to use Mexican spices I received for Christmas
